Day 1 – Start of the Program


Daily Program

  • 11:00 – Pick-up at the hotel. Transfer to a Colombian Creole horse breeding farm. Equestrian show and horse demonstration (Paso Fino, Trocha, and Trote y Galope).
  • The Colombian Creole Horse is a breed recognized for its smoothness, endurance, and elegance, developed from Iberian horses adapted to Colombia’s mountainous terrain. Its main characteristic is the comfort of its gait, ideal for long rides. The breed features several gait modalities: Colombian Paso Fino, Colombian Trocha, Trocha and Gallop, and Trot and Gallop—each with distinct rhythms and styles showcasing the versatility and quality of these horses. Hosted personally by renowned trainer Raúl Pulido (approx. duration: 2 hours).
  • 13:00 – Lunch at the farm.
  • Transfer (25 min) to visit Víctor López’s saddlery workshop. Colombian saddlery is among the most recognized in Latin America due to the high-quality craftsmanship of leather and the detailed production of saddles, tack, and equestrian accessories. Its tradition combines techniques inherited from Spanish culture with local Colombian styles, making it a benchmark for functionality, durability, and aesthetics in the equestrian world.
  • Transfer (45 min) to Hotel Zepal in the town of Buenavista. Located in the department of Quindío, it offers one of the most spectacular viewpoints of Colombia’s Coffee Cultural Landscape. This small and peaceful town is known for its panoramic views of coffee plantations and Andean mountains, its authentic atmosphere, and deep coffee tradition.

Day 2 – Riding Day 1


Route: Buenavista – Pijao – Córdoba

  • 08:00 – Breakfast.
  • 09:00 – Horse assignment to riders.
  • 09:30 – Start of the ride.
  • We begin our journey riding between Buenavista and Pijao, crossing some of the most representative landscapes of the Coffee Cultural Landscape. Along the way, we ride through hills covered with coffee plantations, banana crops, and bamboo groves, with open views of Andean valleys and green mountains. Rural paths wind through small coffee farms and traditional villages, offering a peaceful and authentic setting deeply connected to coffee culture.
  • 13:00 – Lunch in the town of Pijao. Pijao is one of the most charming towns in the Coffee Cultural Landscape, known for its peaceful atmosphere, colorful architecture, and “Cittaslow” philosophy, which promotes a slow-paced lifestyle in harmony with nature.
  • 14:30 approx. – Continue riding toward Córdoba (approx. 3.5 hours).
  • Arrival and accommodation at Hotel Soñarte. A charming small hotel in Córdoba (Quindío) combining art, colorful architecture, and a welcoming atmosphere.
  • 20:00 – Dinner at the hotel.

Day 3 – Riding Day 2


Route: Córdoba – Barcelona – Finca La Joya

  • 09:00 – Breakfast.
  • 10:00 – Start of the ride.
  • Riding along rural paths that gently descend through mountains covered with tropical vegetation and traditional coffee farms, with views opening to deep Andean valleys and bamboo forests, creating a vibrant and lush landscape typical of Quindío.
  • 13:00 – Picnic lunch at Río Verde.
  • 14:30 approx. – Continue toward Finca La Joya (approx. 2 hours).
  • Its colonial architecture, with wide corridors and colorful patios, reflects the traditional style of coffee farms and offers an authentic and peaceful environment to relax in nature.
  • Arrival and accommodation at Finca La Joya.
  • 20:00 – Dinner at the finca.

Day 4 – Colombian Cowboy Experience

  • Colombian cattle ranching is an authentic expression of rural life, where tradition, skill, and connection with nature come together. On horseback, cowboys work cattle calmly and skillfully, guiding them across fields and mountains within the coffee landscape. During this experience, participants can observe these traditional activities and, if desired, take part in some tasks, experiencing the life of a Colombian cowboy.
  • Activity takes place in a coffee landscape surrounded by banana trees, bamboo, and coffee plantations.
  • 13:00 – Lunch at Finca La Joya.
  • Free afternoon to enjoy facilities (pool, billiards, ping-pong, or rest).
  • 20:00 – Dinner and overnight stay at Finca La Joya.

Day 5 – Riding Day 3


Route: Barcelona – Calarcá

  • 08:00 – Breakfast.
  • 09:00 – Start of the ride.
  • The ride between Barcelona and Calarcá crosses the heart of the coffee landscape, following trails through coffee plantations, green hills, and rural farms. The route includes crossing Cerro del Pencil, offering wide views of the Quindío valleys before descending toward Calarcá.
  • 13:00 – Picnic lunch in the coffee plantations of Quebrada Negra.
  • 14:30 approx. – Continue the ride crossing Cerro del Pencil to Calarcá (approx. 3 hours).
  • Horses remain at La Paloma farm.
  • Transfer by vehicle (25 min) to Hotel Combia. Accommodation at Hotel Combia. A traditional coffee hacienda located on the outskirts of Calarcá, surrounded by nature, with a peaceful atmosphere, panoramic pool, and tropical gardens.
  • 20:00 – Dinner at the hotel.

Day 6 – Riding Day 4


Route: Calarcá – Salento

  • 09:00 – Breakfast.
  • 10:00 – Private transfer to meet the horses.
  • 10:30 – Start of the ride along traditional muleteer trails.
  • This route follows historic trails used by local muleteers, crossing humid forests, streams, and rural paths surrounded by lush vegetation. The journey offers an authentic Colombian countryside atmosphere with changing landscapes and small farms.
  • 13:00 – Lunch at La Nubia restaurant by the Boquía River.
  • 14:00 – Continue riding to Salento (approx. 2 hours).
  • Arrival and accommodation at Hotel Salento Real.
  • 20:00 – Dinner at a local restaurant in Salento.

Day 7 – Riding Day 5


Route: Cocora Valley

  • 08:00 – Breakfast.
  • 09:00 – Transfer in Willys vehicles to Cocora Valley.
  • 09:45 – Visit to a fighting bull ranch in Salento. This ranch is one of the most unique in the coffee region, dedicated to breeding fighting bulls in a natural mountain environment, with wide pastures surrounded by forests and wax palms.
  • 10:30 – Start of the ride ascending through Cocora Valley. Riding in Cocora Valley is a unique experience in one of Colombia’s most iconic landscapes, with mountain trails, misty surroundings, green meadows, and towering wax palms—the national tree—reaching over 50 meters high. There is also the possibility of spotting the majestic Andean condor in its natural habitat.
  • 14:30 – Lunch at the ranch.
  • 16:00 – Return transfer to Salento.
  • Free afternoon.
  • 20:30 – Farewell dinner.
